My name is Kim Carey, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have been in the field of Social Work for over 17 years and love to learn and help others find success and build on their strengths. I believe in meeting an others where they are at in their experience and building from there. I also believe it is essential for individuals to establish goals and desires for themselves and work towards them. I am here to support in that journey that can be so rewarding.
My approach
I have experience in many approaches and modalities of therapy. Some of those being, CBT, EMDR, DBT, Solution Focused Therapy, Neurofeedback, as well as others. Overall, I believe that it is not a one size fits all approach and observation and assessment is important. I feel honored to get to know those I work with and being trusted is such as special gift.
My focus
I typically work with clients experiencing life changes, stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, health conditions, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, relationship challenges, and overall in working with individuals that feel misunderstood as they navigate through life.
My communication style
I have a desire to create a safe space for everyone and allow for everyone to feel heard. My goal is to meet you where you are at and allow for all emotions to be expressed in a safe and healthy manner. I believe in creating a safe and confidential space to allow for that to take place. Openness is important and allowing for a free flow of emotions and experiences is important.
My journey to mental healthcare
I love people and I love learning about people and their various experiences. I have always had a desire to help and value human connection. I truly believe that people are not defined by their mistakes or challenges. Their worth far outweighs any mistakes or regrets they may have.
My goals for you
Clients are in the drivers seat in goal setting and are active in the development of goals and all treatment planning. Openness in treatment fosters trust and respect mutually.
My first session with you
Clients can expect an open setting to share successes as well as challenges. Discussions will take place of what has worked in the past and what has not. The first session is not intended to be an interrogation but rather information gathering and discussion in a supportive and respectful manner.
