Aloha, I am Dr. Tanya Jones. I am a military veteran who is dedicated to helping others reach their potential for over 20 years. In my practice, I utilize evidence-based methods to help my clients overcome life challenges and problematic decision patterns.
My approach
I utilize a strengths-based approach that emphasizes resilience and the recognition of intrinsic value to empower teens and young adults to be agents of positive change. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Client-focused modalities are just a few evidence-based modalities used to support my clients in overcoming life challenges and problematic decision patterns. My goal is always to support clients by promoting holistic healing which lends to positive outcomes of clearly defined goals.
My focus
I specialize in supporting adolescents and young adults (ages 12-30). My specializations are domestic violence, helping clients to overcome depression, self-esteem challenges, women's issues, anxiety, life transitions, co-dependency issues, substance use/abuse disorders, and faith-based support life coaching/counseling.
My communication style
I take on a structured, focused, yet warm approach in relating to my clients. My client feedback has been that they appreciate my honesty, ability to listen and empathize with their situations. I have a down-to-earth, supportive, and non-judgmental approach to therapy and counseling. I believe that everyone has a purpose, has strengths, and is capable of overcoming even what seems like the worst of life's challenges.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have served in educating, mentoring, and ministering to youth and young adults for over 20 years. My passion is to support others in overcoming challenges and empowering them to discover and press towards their potential, in the midst of any challenging life situation. I truly believe that "If you know who you are before the battle, you will have the strength to overcome the battle".
My goals for you
Goal setting is important and client goals are identified within the first couple of sessions. Within these sessions, we identify where the client is in their lives, where they want to be (the goal), and what they are willing to do to get to the goal. As a therapist, it is important to know and understand what the client goals are, so that together the client and I can establish a plan to achieve the communicated goal.
My first session with you
The first session will begin with a warm welcome, and just me taking the time to get to know the client. This session is a learning session to better understand what brought the client to seek support, their background, and what their personal goals are for counseling support.
