My name is Jenna Saito and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Mililani, Hawaii. I work with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with children and adolescents and specialize in anxiety, depression, stress, and anger management. I primarily use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help my clients grow to their full potential and start to feel happier.
My approach
My approach to therapy varies based on the individual, and I make adjustments to match my client's needs. I enjoy utilizing a holistic approach because I strive to understand a person as a whole rather than looking at just one aspect of their life. I value building a strong therapeutic foundation through establishing a trusting relationship with my clients.
My focus
I have found that my personality and approach are a good fit for teens and children who may be dealing with difficulties with depression, self-esteem, social pressures, family conflict, or self-discovery. This often includes self-injurious thoughts and behaviors, and difficulties with interpersonal relationships. I work with my clients to discover their own treatment goals and determine ways that I can help them move forward on their journey.
My communication style
My communication style is comforting, understanding, and empathetic. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, without feeling the need to filter themselves before speaking. I provide a listening ear without judgment or negativity, and I remain open-minded at all times.
My journey to mental healthcare
I decided to become a therapist because I grew up feeling alone. I realized that I wanted to do whatever I could to help others feel a sense of belonging and support. I remember having many periods of my life where I felt like I had no one and I had no hope in myself. My goal as a therapist is to help those who have similar feelings that I have had and shown them that they are not alone.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting is focused on meeting clients where they are at. This begins with building a relationship with my clients and focusing on the goals they feel are important to them. Together we can make adjustments to these goals as we go, and create a plan on how to accomplish these goals.
My first session with you
You can expect me to take your lead during the first session and not put too much pressure on you to open up and share deeper feelings. I will ask you questions to get a better understanding of who you are as a person and what you value. The initial meeting will be focused on making you feel heard and doing what I can to show you that I am someone that you can trust. Each person is different, and I promise to listen to what you need and support you in the way you feel is the most helpful.
