Thomas Drumm

My name is Thomas Drumm and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Hilo Hawaii. I work with a wide range of clients individually who suffer from anxiety, depression, and stress-related conditions. I primarily use support and insight and I pride myself in being very non-judgmental. This provider resides in Hawaii.

My approach

My approach is to foster insight and coping skills. Proving support is essential to this process. Everyone I see is unique and I adjust my approach based on the individual and their needs.

My focus

I typically work with individuals with a wide range of difficulties. I have been very successful in treating anxiety and depression. I have also greatly enjoyed working with adolescents. Alcohol and substance abuse problems have also been an area I have enjoyed helping people address.

My communication style

I have found that acceptance and understanding are essential to helping people improve their lives and benefit from their work in therapy. I have also found that trust is an essential element in the process and work hard to establish and maintain it.

My journey to mental healthcare

I have been a therapist for over 40 years. I have experience helping people with all sorts of problems and conditions. I was attracted to doing this work in order to help others and because I find it very meaningful.

Goals are defined by the individual seeking treatment. I try to let people tell me where they want to go.

My first session with you

The most important thing is to establish trust in an initial meeting. I like to understand as best I can the nature of the problem and what the person is hoping to get from therapy. I also like to give clients an opportunity to ask me questions to help in this process.
