Hi, my name is Sarah Adams and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) based on the Big Island of Hawaii, and serving clients statewide via telehealth. I help clients aged 14 and up navigate a variety of life challenges.
My approach
I use a client-centered, strength-based approach to best tailor our collaborative efforts to work for you. I lean toward CBT because our thoughts and our behaviors are the things that are under our control to change.
My focus
I work with teens (14 +), adults, and couples. I help clients dealing with all kinds of life challenges: self-esteem, trauma, anxiety, depression, life transition, parenting, and social and relationship issues. If you are motivated to change, I can help!
My communication style
I hope to create a safe, secure environment where clients feel heard and understood. In that environment, clients can feel comfortable being challenged. And the real work begins.
My journey to mental healthcare
It has been a winding journey, driven by the love of learning, and valuing relationships that have led me to this work. I am grateful every day for the opportunity to connect with people in this fulfilling and rewarding way.

Some clients come to therapy with specific goals in mind, while others need help and collaboration in goal setting. I strive to meet you where you are.
My first session with you
Many clients say they "don't know where to start" and are overwhelmed with the volume of information they need to share. There is no "right" way to start; it is just important to start. I want clients to leave the first session feeling a little lighter and hopeful about the process they have started.
