My name is Jazlyn Barlahan and I am a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC). I am committed to providing compassionate and effective support to empower young individuals on their mental health journey.
My approach
My therapeutic approach combines the empathetic principles of person-centered therapy with the practical tools of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I strive to create an environment where individuals can feel safe to freely express themselves. Additionally, I integrate CBT techniques to help young individuals develop coping skills, challenge negative thought patterns, and build resilience.
My focus
I have found that the therapeutic style is a good fit for adolescents and young adults who are struggling to navigate various challenges ranging from low self-esteem, anxiety, and depression to academic and social pressures. My goal is to equip young individuals with practical strategies to manage stress, anxiety, and depressive symptoms, fostering lasting positive change in their lives.
My communication style
I strive to create a safe environment because I believe that every person is unique and deserving of respect, understanding, and a safe space to explore their thoughts and emotions. I listen with acceptance and empathy, but I am honest and will tell individuals what they may need to hear when it is needed. It is also important to laugh and smile as therapy does not have to be sad or serious 100% of the time.
