Hi there, I'm Keala!

Hi everyone, my name is Keala Zane and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Hawaii. I work with individuals including adolescents and young adults specializing in anxiety, depression, stress, peer and family-related issues, and relationships utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques incorporated with a client-centered approach to address stressors and life challenges.

My approach

My approach to therapy varies depending on each individual's needs. I frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques to begin to address automatic negative thoughts and identify ongoing challenges.

My focus

I have found that my style of therapy and approach works well with those who may be dealing with life transition challenges, family-related stress, and cultural pressures. My goal is to support you with identifying challenges and barriers to your idea of success and making meaningful changes to live a more positive and fulfilling life. My goal is to also support you with feeling better about yourself and having the skills you need to feel confident in your abilities to address life stressors as they arise.

My communication style

My communication style is collaborative, personable, and nonjudgemental. I am authentic and genuine and truly believe in my clients. I am honest and I also believe that it is important for us to laugh at things that are silly, smile, and celebrate accomplishments and milestones.

My journey to mental healthcare

My journey to becoming a therapist started from a very young age. My own mental health journey and those who supported me inspired me to become the person who supports others on their mental health journey. My hope in being a therapist is to be an example that no matter the hardships you deal with in life, nothing can stop you from achieving your goals.

My goals for you

The way I view goal setting is that it is a collaborative and ongoing process. My goal is for you to feel like your needs and ideas about making progress in therapy are heard and understood. I want you to feel empowered to not only identify what you would like to work on but also how you want that journey to look and feel like.

My first session with you

During our first session, we will begin by discussing what is bringing you to therapy and ultimately what you would like to get out of our time together. Our first session is our time to begin to get to know one another and for me gather essential information that will help us to determine what treatment will look like. I may ask questions to better understand current situations and needs as well as answer any questions you may have about the therapeutic process with me.
