Hi there, I'm Amber!

Aloha. I'm Amber Alexander, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with a passion for guiding individuals through their healing journeys. My approach is rooted in a blend of evidence-based practices, primarily focusing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, and a strong client-centered foundation. This fusion allows me to create a personalized therapeutic experience that not only aims to modify unhelpful thought patterns but also deeply respects and validates the internal parts of each individual, facilitating a path toward self-compassion and lasting change. I specialize in addressing anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and personal growth, dedicating myself to providing a safe, empathetic, and empowering environment for all my clients.

My approach

My practice is deeply rooted in evidence-based clinical practices, focusing on client-centered therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

My focus

In my practice, I have the privilege of working with a diverse clientele, each bringing their unique backgrounds, challenges, and aspirations to our sessions. I am most comfortable and experienced in treating individuals grappling with anxiety, and depression, and navigating complex relationship issues, whether they are facing challenges in marital dynamics, family relationships, or personal connections. My work is also deeply rewarding when I support those on their personal growth journeys, helping them discover and nurture their authentic selves amidst life's ups and downs. I strive to create an inclusive and safe therapeutic space, welcoming clients from all walks of life, including various cultural, sexual, and gender identities. My aim is to empower each client, providing them with the tools and understanding needed to achieve lasting change and a deeper sense of fulfillment.

My communication style

In my sessions, I strive to create an atmosphere of warmth, safety, and empathy, understanding the importance of feeling truly seen and heard. Working with me, clients can expect a nurturing environment that encourages self-exploration and growth in a non-judgmental space. The tone of our sessions is one of collaboration and respect, recognizing that each individual’s journey is unique. I aim to empower my clients, guiding them through their challenges with compassion and understanding, while also equipping them with practical tools and insights. The experience is designed to be both validating and transformative, facilitating a journey toward self-compassion, understanding, and lasting change in a supportive and empathetic setting.

My journey to mental healthcare

My journey to becoming a therapist was shaped by a deep desire to support others on their paths to healing and self-discovery. As I navigated my own life experiences, I became increasingly passionate about mental health and the transformative power of therapy. What truly attracted me to this career was the opportunity to create a safe space where individuals could explore their inner worlds, find solace in times of struggle, and discover their innate resilience and strengths. Witnessing the profound impact that therapy can have on someone's life solidified my commitment to this work. What drives me each day is the belief that every individual deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported as they navigate life's challenges. Guiding clients through their journeys of self-exploration and growth, and witnessing their resilience and transformation, is incredibly rewarding and fuels my dedication to this meaningful profession.

My goals for you

My approach to goal setting with clients is collaborative and client-centered, grounded in the belief that you are the expert on your own life. At the outset, we work together to clearly define your aspirations and what you hope to achieve through therapy. This process involves exploring your values, strengths, and the areas you wish to change or develop. This flexible, supportive approach ensures that the therapy remains focused and aligned with your evolving journey toward self-improvement and well-being.

My first session with you

During your first session with me, you can expect a welcoming and supportive environment where your comfort and sense of safety are prioritized. We'll begin by discussing what brings you to therapy and what you hope to achieve through our work together. This initial conversation is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for me to understand your unique experiences, challenges, and goals. The first session is fundamentally about building a rapport and establishing a trustful, open dialogue. You're encouraged to ask any questions you might have about the therapy process, my background, or anything else that would make you feel more comfortable and informed. It's important to me that you leave this initial session feeling heard, understood, and hopeful about our journey ahead.
