My name is Culten Arroyo and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor born and raised in Oahu, Hawaii. I enjoy working with adults of all ages, especially young adults. I specialize in assisting individuals with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, stress management, alcohol/substance abuse, and life transitions.
My approach
My Approach to Therapy varies based on the needs and preferences of each individual I work with. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) while incorporating Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
My focus
I primarily work with adults of all ages who struggle with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, stress management, alcohol/substance abuse, and life transitions. I especially enjoy working with young adults and/or those who have never been to therapy in the past.
My communication style
I aim to create a non-judgmental, safe space. My hope is with time you eventually feel comfortable enough to share openly with me so that I can assist you in your healing journey. Through our therapeutic relationship, my goal is to help you develop insight into your behavioral and thinking patterns, your own communication style, and how you relate to others.
My goals for you
I view goal setting as a collective effort to define what you hope to accomplish in your work together. Goals can be focused on both the short and long term. Goals will be reviewed periodically to track your progress and adjust with time as things change.
My first session with you
Our first 1-2 sessions will serve as a time for me to learn more about you and the things in your life you would like to improve. I invite you to 1) ask any questions you have about me 2) speak freely, openly, and honestly 3) bring questions you may have about what to expect from therapy or myself. We will also cover confidentiality and other administrative things.
