Hi there, I'm Madoka!

Hello! My name is Madoka Kumagai, and as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I approach therapy from a holistic perspective, integrating different therapeutic modalities to create safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environments that foster your growth and well-being. This provider resides in Hawaii.

My approach

I believe in the power of my clients' capacity for growth and understanding. I strive to create a safe and welcoming environment for them to explore their emotions and experiences without fear of judgment. By incorporating humanistic and mindfulness practices, I work together with my clients to reduce stress, promote self-awareness, and foster deeper personal growth.

My focus

In my practice, I am passionate about working with couples and families to cultivate healthier and happier relationships. By exploring patterns of behavior and developing tailored strategies, I aim to help my clients navigate and overcome conflicts with greater understanding and empathy. For individuals struggling with personal issues, I offer compassionate support and guidance to help them improve their relationships and overall well-being.

My communication style

My top priority is creating a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment in my sessions that allows clients to feel comfortable sharing their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. With empathy, I strive to understand and validate the experiences and emotions of my clients, providing feedback in a supportive and non-judgmental manner.

My journey to mental healthcare

Throughout my life, I have been drawn to the field of therapy by a variety of experiences. From working with children on the autism spectrum to supporting victims of domestic violence, and my own personal connection to mental health struggles, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of therapy to promote healing and growth. Ultimately, I am driven by empathy and a commitment to support and empower individuals and families facing challenges and a genuine desire to make a positive impact in the world.

My goals for you

My focus is on creating a positive therapeutic relationship with my clients, using empathy to foster emotional and psychological health to improve their overall well-being. Together, we identify their values and goals and create an action plan that is tailored to their unique needs and desires. My goal is to help my clients feel empowered and motivated to achieve their aspirations.

My first session with you

In the first therapy session, we'll start by getting to know each other and building a foundation of trust. I'll ask my clients some questions about their life, their mental health history, and what they hope to achieve through therapy. This will help me better understand the client's unique needs and how I can best support the client towards their goals It's also important to me that the client feel comfortable asking questions and sharing any concerns they have about the therapy process.
