Aloha, I’m Ailene Schwartzlow and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have been a practicing Social Worker for 20 + years. My primary focus has been with Children and Families within various community settings. My current employment has led me into Medical Social Work which includes our senior population and setting long-term life planning goals. One of my passions is to serve my local community and support therapeutic needs.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is relational, supportive, and personalized to your needs. We will use a variety of approaches to fit your individual needs. The goal of our therapeutic relationship is to find your pathway to discover your inner strength and resiliency.
My focus
My focus is working with individuals who are experiencing life stressors, grief, and trauma. As a therapist, I am dedicated to creating safe spaces where we can explore current struggles and stressors. I will help to navigate those current struggles and focus on your overall well-being.
My communication style
My communication style is warm, honest, relatable, and positive. I hope while working with each other we can help you discover your inner strengths and life goals. I am here to support and empower you to be the best that you can be.
My journey to mental healthcare
I am originally from Wai’anae, Oahu where I was born and raised. Living and growing up on the Westside of Oahu, I understand the challenges that rural communities face with access to resources. I attended the University of Hawai’i for my undergraduate and Graduate degree. I have been in the Social Work field for 20-plus years and have been blessed with amazing experiences. My employment has given me opportunities to work with different populations from Keiki (Children), ‘Ohana (Families) to Kūpuna (Elderly). I currently live in Lahaina, Maui with my supportive husband and two beautiful Fur dog girl babies. We are currently empty nesters of two young adult sons. My passion has always been to help others and to serve in the community where I live. The Lahaina Wildfires motivated me to continue serving my community while helping in the healing process: Kōkua aku kōkua mai – Help others and be helped. Let’s go on this journey together.
My goals for you
My goal is to help you define what you want from therapy and to help you work toward achieving those goals. We will work together to help you identify, and define steps that will achieve your life goals. I want to collaborate with you to set goals that are achievable and realistic. We will prioritize goals for therapy in a collaborative approach thus providing direction for therapy.
My first session with you
Our first session will be spent connecting and learning more about you. We will spend the time getting to know you, and what has brought you to see me. We’ll talk story so I can understand your situation and learn more about you and your needs. We will spend time reviewing the platform and what are the expectations in therapy.
