Hi there, I'm Johanna!

Hello, my name is Johanna Harris. I want you to move from just surviving to a point in which you are thriving. You just took a HUGE step, so thank you for being here right now. I am a licensed professional counselor and have provided therapeutic counseling services for over ten years. I have experience in assisting clients with how to effectively cope with stressors and anxiety, address and resolve relationship issues, develop self-esteem, and self-confidence, and confront hidden traumas.

My approach

I integrate various therapeutic techniques to craft an individualized treatment plan that suits your specific needs, ie, Trauma Focused Therapy, CBT, DBT, etc. I want to empower you to take an active role in your healing process, and I will provide you with the tools and strategies to manage your symptoms, understand your emotions, and develop healthier coping mechanisms.

My focus

If you find yourself grappling with emotional pain, whether it stems from relationship challenges, work stress, past trauma, or the complexities of life transitions, know that you're not alone. You deserve to live the life you desire and we believe one of the bravest things you can do is therapy to begin healing and understanding your own story. This is not just a step toward healing; it's a profound act of self-compassion. Your desire for a fulfilling life is valid, and we are here to help you navigate through these unique challenges. Together, let's craft a new story—one of strength, resilience, and emotional well-being.

My communication style

In my effort and ability to create a safe space for clients, I believe that presenting a calm and tranquil tone initiates desired space. I create an attentive space, and, being mindful and present, as well as, applying skills such as effective therapeutic communication skills (active listening, paraphrasing, assertiveness, etc.).

My journey to mental healthcare

I was that individual who was going through life transitions, burnt out, anxious, depressed, feeling blocked, stuck, insecure, and unsure how to navigate a path forward. All this was experienced by the age of 16. Attending a maturity school in Chicago, I met my 1st therapist. Learning how to effectively navigate my journey in truth and peace, I knew without a doubt that I desired to pour into others what my therapist poured into me. Life takes us on many different journeys throughout the years. Sometimes we are unsure if our next move will be the best move, but investing in your mental health is the ultimate move.

My goals for you

My therapeutic style is warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental, creating an environment where you can feel heard, understood, and valued. As we embark on this therapeutic journey together my therapeutic approach is supporting you in cultivating resilience, fostering self-awareness, and building the skills needed for a more fulfilling life.

My first session with you

All of my clients can expect to be welcomed first. I have a down-to-earth style, and when working with me, you will experience warmth, empathy, and compassion as I support you in finding a greater sense of purpose and re-authoring your story to more closely align with your preferred outcome.
