Michell Temple, PhD, EdD, CRC, NCC, ACS, CTMH, CCPT, LPC (GA) provides mental health and rehabilitation counseling using a resilience approach. My practice focuses on adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, employment issues, life transitions, and feeling stressed by life.
My approach
I approach therapy using a client-centered and manualized or protocol approach, which has research evidence supporting positive clinical outcomes. I use these therapies: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR Level 1 Basic), Cognitive Processing Therapy Provider (CPT Provider), Strategic Trauma and Abuse Recovery (Level 1 STARS Trained), Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
My focus
Clients who need to reduce the experience of worry and fear, sadness and hopelessness, alleviate the pain from hurtful events, manage emotional and social pressures of work-life balance, and identify and explore career options find my services most beneficial. I am available to help clients with a variety of mental health/wellness needs, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, disability adjustment, relationship issues, spiritual or religious issues, and problems at work.
My communication style
My philosophy is that everyone can live their best lives, yet there are times when people may need support to reconnect with their best, imperfect selves. I strive to cultivate a safe and intentional space where clients can move toward their strengths and new possibilities.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was attracted to the career of therapy because I like people and want to support the well-being of others, as such I entered the field of counseling with the desire to provide high-quality care. Since I started practicing in 2008, my drive has centered on caring for the whole person, which is why I incorporate strength and wellness-based approaches in tandem with problem and solution-focused approaches to care.
My goals for you
I modify my specific approach to counseling based on my client's needs and goals. I take a collaborative, client-directed approach to goal setting. My ultimate focus as a therapist is to help clients live well.
My first session with you
In the first session, a client can expect general introductions and a detailed interview and assessment to gather information about their needs and goals.
