Hello. My name is Dr. Michele Balthrope. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (e.g., LCSW) in Georgia, with over 30 years of experience in social work, human services, and counseling. Additionally, I am a Certified Anger Management Specialist (CAMS-II).
My approach
My therapeutic approach involves “meeting the person where they are.” I am committed to helping clients understand their life challenges and assisting them in reducing or resolving internal or external challenges.
My focus
As an eclectic provider, I understand human behavior and the experiences of individuals, groups, and families within their social environments. I believe that all clients can heal and thrive, regardless of their past challenges, with the right support and interventions. My services are open to all clients who seek a healthier future, and I welcome and accept everyone.
My communication style
I provide comprehensive services throughout the treatment process, customized to address the mind, body, and spirit. My integrated treatment approach considers the client’s biological, psychological, emotional, spiritual, and social needs.
My journey to mental healthcare
From a young age, I knew that I wanted to be a “helper.” I explored various fields in human services and found my passion in supporting individuals, families, and groups dealing with emotional and mental health challenges. I discovered that I was especially drawn to the two categories of behavioral health: mental health disorders and challenges related to everyday living. This realization solidified my goal to become a therapist focused on effective treatment approaches, helping clients achieve stability and return to their optimal level of functioning.
My goals for you
I believe the cornerstone of the treatment process involves active client participation in developing treatment goals and manageable objectives to meet those goals.
My first session with you
Clients should expect to work with a practitioner who understands their needs as they share and define them. The client should expect that I can assess their challenges and work towards offering best-practice strategies and interventions. Specifically, a client should expect the beginning of a therapeutic alliance that helps them move toward a healthier "state of being."
