I am Katherine Brown, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker boasting more than a decade of experience in managing depressive and anxiety disorders, both acute and chronic trauma, substance use disorders, grief and loss, psychotic disorders, and adjustment disorders. My therapeutic philosophy is rooted in the belief that everyone possesses the right to self-determination and the inherent capacity to achieve happiness and flourish. Often, individuals are unaware of this potential, and that is where my role begins.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is highly client-centered, employing a range of theoretical methods anchored in evidence-based practices tailored to best fit my client, considering their abilities and strengths.
My focus
I work comfortably with a diverse clientele aged 18 and older. My areas of specialization include chronic and persistent mental health issues, substance use disorders, and trauma-related challenges.
My communication style
My approach to communication is deeply empathetic, understanding, and free of judgment. I engage in extensive processing to foster insight and awareness, offering support to clients as they harness this awareness to recognize and reclaim their strengths. This, in turn, aids them in advancing toward the action phase of their healing journey.
My journey to mental healthcare
I chose the path of therapy because I deeply value life and hold the belief that everyone is entitled to, and capable of achieving, a quality of life filled with happiness and the ability to flourish.
My goals for you
I assist clients in creating personal goals that are realistic, measurable, and time-bound. This process of goal-setting not only fosters commitment to their therapeutic objectives but also ensures accountability.
My first session with you
In the initial session, my goal is to establish a connection with my client to start comprehending their current position in their journey, their desired destination, and how I can assist them in reaching it. This marks the beginning of devising a roadmap for the treatment plan and setting expectations for our collaboration.
