My name is Gina Farrell, MC, LMFT, LPC, NCC and I'm cross-licensed as a professional counselor and marriage and family therapist. My approach to therapy is to tailor evidence-informed best practices that meet my clients where they currently are in life along with what they hope to accomplish or achieve through their growth journeys.
My approach
Of all the elements that go into therapy/counseling, research has clearly shown that it is the therapeutic alliance above all other techniques, approaches, schools, etc. that is the catalyst for effective change. I focus on establishing and cultivating that strong alliance so that together we can cultivate constructive change.
My focus
Over the course of my career, I've worked with some of the most elite, high-stress performers in their respective professions and career fields. Therefore, I'm comfortable addressing situations of varying complexity across diverse cultures and backgrounds. I specialize in emotional regulation, mood disorders, and couples.
My communication style
People oftentimes want to be heard before they want to be helped. I strive to provide a setting where clients feel heard, affirmed, and validated so they can feel safe and supported to proceed with challenging yet rewarding work.
My journey to mental healthcare
I often half-joke with clients and colleagues that I didn't choose the therapist life, instead, it chose me. At the risk of sounding like a banal platitude, being a therapist is truly what I feel is a calling and what I was born to do. It's a passion and a devotion to share my bestowed gifts, talents, and passions in the service of others.
My goals for you
Goal-setting is an ongoing, collaborative, dynamic, and fluid process.
My first session with you
During a first session, clients can expect a shared introduction, brief background gathering, case conceptualization, and initial goal-setting as well as the opportunity to have addressed any questions and/or concerns.
