Hi, my name is Bathsheba Cherry and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 11 years of experience working in the mental health field. My goal is to provide unconditional positive regard for my clients and to focus on providing attentive, specialized therapeutic services.
My approach
I believe therapy is a joint venture where our knowledge and skills are combined to create solutions to help you find balance in your life. I use a holistic approach to address your physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.
My focus
My specialties include working with clients experiencing anxiety, stress, relationship issues, self-esteem issues, divorce, mood disorders, and depression. In addition, I have extensive experience assisting clients with substance use concerns.
My communication style
As a therapist, it is important to provide a warm, non-judgmental, and caring environment for all my clients. With that said in mind, I believe honesty is most important. I believe it is not what we say but how we say it. I believe everyone has the right to voice their concerns without feeling guilt/shame. I create an environment where my clients feel like they are matter and heard.
My journey to mental healthcare
My first career was in the education field working with students and teens from grades level Prek-12. At times during teaching, I found myself caring about my students' mental health and well-being. I realized that instead of teaching, I found passion in helping individuals feel better about themselves and overcome stress/anxiety.
My goals for you
Goal setting is a vital part of all clients' treatment planning. It is important to help clients identify what they want to achieve and give them the skills to commit to and achieve those goals. I help my clients to set SMART goals that motivate them. I believe that writing those goals down whether they are short-term or long-term helps clients feel that they are tangible. Then my goal is to help clients identify the steps they need to take to realize and reach their goals.
My first session with you
The first session will be getting some background information and formulating a treatment plan for goal setting. The first session will allow clients to ask questions and voice concerns about the therapeutic process.
