I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker(LCSW) based in Georgia and have been in the mental health field for 12 years. I have a client-centered approach and specialize in treating women and mothers struggling with depression, anxiety, pre and postpartum, stress, burnout, being overwhelmed, establishing boundaries, life transitions, and time management.
My approach
In my practice, I have extensive experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which focuses on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I utilize CBT techniques to help clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns that contribute to distressing emotions and unhelpful behaviors. By exploring these patterns, clients gain insight into how their thoughts influence their mood and behavior. Together, we work to reframe negative thoughts, develop coping strategies, and cultivate more adaptive ways of thinking and behaving. Through this process, clients learn to manage their emotions more effectively and improve their overall functioning in various areas of their lives.
My focus
I help women and mothers struggling with depression, anxiety, pre and postpartum, stress, burnout, being overwhelmed, establishing boundaries, life transitions, and time management. Women and moms regain control over their lives by learning strategies to cope with the demands of life life and parenting that contribute to high levels of stress, depression, anxiety, and burnout. Are you a mom who feels like the weight of the world is on your shoulders? Are you a mom who feels anxious about motherhood, wondering if you're doing it all right? Have you been feeling depressed, like you've lost yourself in the chaos of it all? Are you a mom who lacks support, feeling like you're navigating this journey alone? Are you a mom who's been feeling stressed, overwhelmed, and burnt out? Whether you're a new mom or an experienced one, navigating motherhood can be both exhilarating and overwhelming. While motherhood is beautiful, it often comes with the heavy burden of postpartum depression, anxiety, stress, and high expectations.
My communication style
I create a calm and nonjudgemental atmosphere where clients can show up as their most authentic selves. I remind clients that I am human and experience life just like them and I am a regular person so feel free to express yourself in any way you need to during the session because it is a safe space. I am down to earth, empathetic and understanding, relatable and funny.
My journey to mental healthcare
What drives me to do this work is my own experiences with postpartum depression after losing my sister during my pregnancy and the lack of access to resources to help me cope. I focus on women and mothers because life is hard without the right skills implemented to help us thrive in motherhood and I want to be that person to help women and mothers put ourselves first and thrive in all areas of our lives. I was led to my career as a therapist after being a school social worker for 6 years due to moving to a new state during the pandemic and getting a job that involved teletherapy and falling involved with talk therapy
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting is meeting clients where they are in their therapeutic process and addressing the goals that they want to work on but address safety needs immediately. I have clients create their goals and I assist with the objectives and interventions but goal setting is ultimately the things they want to work on not the things I think they need to work on.
My first session with you
During the first session, the client can expect us to explore their presenting issues along with their family dynamics, upbringing, support systems, current coping skills, medications, and treatment planning. The first session is more so conversation and us getting to know one another. They can also expect to learn about me and my background
