Not currently accepting patients

Hi there, I'm Yaka!

I am a board-licensed professional counselor for the State of Georgia with 16 years of experience providing individual and family therapy to help combat life stressors and daily challenges that frequently complicate the path to fulfillment. I am committed to partnering with you to help you grow and change through the therapeutic process, so the road to recovery isn't as cumbersome as attempting it alone.

My approach

My therapeutic approach is eclectic, drawing from modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Processing (CPT), Existential, Narrative, Multicultural, Trauma Focused, Structural Family Therapy, Reality Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior (REBT), Person-Centered, and Motivational Interviewing. I tailor my approach to each individual client's needs.

My focus

I work with individuals, couples, and families. My specialties include ADHD, behavioral issues, anger management, anxiety, bipolar disorder, women's issues, codependency, coping skills, depression, emotional disturbance, family conflict, grief, hoarding, LGBTQIA+ issues, impulse control disorders, video game addiction, trauma and PTSD, transgender issues, teen violence, suicidal ideation, sexual abuse, parenting, OCD, racial identity, relationship issues, stress, self-harm, oppositional defiance, self-esteem, school issues, pregnancy and prenatal/postpartum challenges, infidelity, and mood disorders.

My communication style

I aim to create a culturally sensitive environment and adjust my communication style to what works best for each client, whether that involves a coaching approach, biofeedback, an interpersonal focus, or other modalities.

My journey to mental healthcare

My journey to mental healthcare began in 2004-2005 when I completed over 1700 hours of clinical experience at The Methodist Home for Children and Youth in Macon, Georgia. This experience, along with my subsequent work in various private practice and community mental health settings over the past 16 years, has equipped me with the skills and passion to help clients of all ages regain control and thrive.

My goals for you

My goal is to provide you with the tools necessary to cope with the internal and external factors that may be hindering your ability to make the most of life's journey. I am dedicated to helping you achieve measurable successes and regain control over your well-being.

My first session with you

In our first session, we will begin to build a partnership and discuss your unique situation, challenges, and goals. I will listen attentively and work with you to develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses your specific needs and sets you on the path to growth and positive change.
