I am a psychotherapist with extensive experience working with military veterans, children, adolescents, and their families, as well as those individuals experiencing physical, verbal, emotional, and sexual abuse or other types of trauma. I have worked in the behavioral health field for over twenty-five years.
My approach
Through my experiences, I am aware that there is no single therapeutic approach that is right for all so I have received training in treatment modalities including expressive art therapy, and cognitive and behavioral therapies. In addition to being a trauma-informed clinician, I incorporate a holistic perspective which I utilize to assist clients in discovering their personal strengths, identifying support systems, and successfully achieving their therapeutic goals.
My focus
I work with individuals, minors (ages 13-17), and families. My specialties include treating adolescents/teens, behavioral issues, anger management, anxiety, child abuse or neglect, depression, coping skills, family conflict, stress, trauma, and PTSD.
My communication style
I communicate with compassion and directness, adapting my approach to each client's needs. Through active listening and thoughtful questions, I create a safe space for open dialogue. My goal is to provide clarity and support as we work together to help you achieve your therapeutic goals.
My journey to mental healthcare
I hold a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Capella University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS) with over 25 years of clinical experience working with individuals experiencing anxiety disorders, depression, behavior disorders, social skills development, parenting training, and trauma.
