I’m Dr. Andrea Alleyne, a licensed clinical social worker and relationship coach with a PhD in Psychology. I specialize in helping young adults, adults, and couples overcome anxiety, mood disorders, and relationship challenges. My approach combines traditional therapy with holistic care, including functional and nutritional medicine, to promote lasting mental and emotional well-being.
My approach
My therapeutic approach is integrative and tailored to each client’s unique needs. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients reframe negative thought patterns, Behavioral Activation Therapy (BAT) to encourage positive actions, and Solution-Focused Therapy to identify and build on strengths. I also incorporate a Supportive Therapy approach, providing a compassionate, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their emotions and challenges. This combination allows me to address both immediate concerns and long-term goals, fostering lasting mental and emotional well-being.
My focus
I work primarily with young adults, adults, and couples who are navigating challenges such as anxiety, mood disorders, and relationship difficulties. I am most comfortable treating conditions related to anxiety, depression, and interpersonal conflict. My clients often seek a holistic, integrative approach to therapy, and I focus on helping them achieve lasting mental and emotional well-being through personalized care.
My communication style
My communication style is warm, compassionate, and collaborative. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and supported. Working with me feels like a partnership—I listen deeply, offer guidance, and encourage open dialogue to empower clients on their journey toward healing and growth.
My journey to mental healthcare
The seeds for my career as a therapist were planted early in my own life. As a child, I grappled with anxiety, often manifesting in physical symptoms. Those days when I felt well – truly free from the grip of worry – were precious to me. I cherished the feeling of simply feeling good. Whenever adults asked the age-old question, "What do you want to be when you grow up?", my answer was always the same: "I want to make people smile." They'd often chuckle and assume I meant I wanted to be a dentist. But even as a child, I understood that what I really longed for was to help others experience that same profound sense of well-being that I so treasured. That deep-rooted desire to facilitate healing and joy in others has remained my driving force. It led me to pursue a career in therapy, where I've found immense fulfillment in helping individuals navigate their own challenges and rediscover their inner strength. It's incredibly rewarding to witness someone reclaim their life from anxiety, depression, or any other obstacle that's holding them back from living their best life. Every day, I'm reminded of the young child who simply wanted to make others feel good. And now, as a therapist, I'm privileged to do just that.
My goals for you
When it comes to goal setting, I take a structured and collaborative approach. I start by going over a worksheet with clients that outlines the steps of effective goal setting. Together, we identify specific, achievable goals and discuss potential obstacles that might arise. We then work on developing strategies to overcome these challenges, ensuring that clients feel equipped and motivated to reach their objectives. This process helps clients stay focused, navigate setbacks, and make steady progress toward their goals.
My first session with you
During our first session, clients can expect a welcoming and supportive environment where we’ll begin to get to know each other. I’ll ask about your background, current challenges, and what you hope to achieve in therapy. We’ll also discuss my therapeutic approach and how we can work together to meet your goals. This initial session is a space for you to share openly and ask any questions you may have, setting the foundation for our work together.
