Hello, my name is Liza White, and I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) based in Florida. With a compassionate and client-centered approach, I provide therapy services that empower individuals to overcome challenges and achieve personal growth. My areas of focus include anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues. I am dedicated to creating a safe and supportive therapeutic environment to help clients navigate their unique journeys toward healing and well-being.
My approach
In my therapy practice, I adopt an integrative approach, drawing from various theoretical orientations based on the unique needs and goals of each client. I believe that every individual is different, and therefore, a one-size-fits-all approach may not be effective. Some of the common theoretical approaches I utilize include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which focuses on identifying and modifying unhelpful thoughts and behaviors; Person-Centered Therapy, which emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness in fostering self-growth; and Psychodynamic Therapy, which explores unconscious patterns and past experiences to gain insight into present difficulties. Additionally, I incorporate elements of Mindfulness-Based Therapy to help clients develop greater self-awareness and cultivate a sense of presence in the present moment. I also integrate techniques from Solution-Focused Therapy to help clients identify their strengths and create actionable steps toward achieving their goals. By combining these approaches, I aim to create a collaborative therapeutic relationship where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered to make positive changes in their lives.
My focus
I typically work with individuals across a wide range of ages, from adolescents to adults, who are seeking support for various mental health concerns. I am comfortable treating conditions such as anxiety, depression, trauma-related issues, relationship difficulties, and stress management. Additionally, I have experience working with individuals facing life transitions and self-esteem issues. I strive to provide a welcoming and non-judgmental space for clients to explore their concerns and work toward positive change.
My communication style
In my therapy sessions, I strive to create a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment for my clients. I believe in fostering a safe space where individuals feel comfortable expressing their thoughts, emotions, and concerns. Working with me feels collaborative, supportive, and respectful. I actively listen to my clients, validate their experiences, and provide feedback and guidance to help them navigate their challenges. Together, we work towards their goals, promoting personal growth, empowerment, and overall well-being.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey to becoming a therapist began with a genuine interest in understanding human behavior and a deep desire to make a positive impact on people's lives. I was drawn to the field of psychology during my undergraduate studies, where I became fascinated by the complexities of the human mind and the potential for healing and growth through therapeutic interventions. As I pursued my education and training, I discovered that the role of a therapist aligned perfectly with my personal values of compassion, empathy, and the belief in the inherent resilience of individuals. Witnessing the transformative power of therapy and the profound impact, it can have on individuals' well-being further solidified my passion for this work. What truly drives me as a therapist is the opportunity to create a safe and supportive space where clients can explore their emotions, gain insights, and develop new coping strategies. Being able to witness their personal growth, resilience, and positive change is incredibly rewarding. It is an honor to be trusted with clients' stories and to guide them on their journey toward healing, self-discovery, and a more fulfilling life. I am continually inspired by the courage, strength, and resilience of the individuals I work with. Knowing that I can play a part in helping them overcome challenges, improve their mental health, and live more fulfilling lives is what fuels my passion and dedication as a therapist.
My goals for you
When it comes to goal setting, I believe in a collaborative approach with my clients. We start by engaging in open and honest discussions to gain a comprehensive understanding of their needs, desires, and aspirations. I actively listen to their concerns and perspectives, and together, we identify specific and achievable goals that align with their values and priorities. During this process, I provide guidance and support, helping clients set realistic and measurable goals that can be effectively tracked and evaluated. We break down larger goals into smaller, manageable steps to create a sense of progress and momentum. I encourage clients to take an active role in defining their goals, as this promotes ownership and motivation throughout the therapeutic journey. Regularly reviewing and reassessing goals is also important. We collaboratively evaluate progress, make adjustments when necessary, and celebrate achievements along the way. By involving clients in the goal-setting process, I aim to foster a sense of empowerment, motivation, and accountability, ultimately facilitating positive change and personal growth.
My first session with you
During the first session with me, clients can expect a welcoming and supportive environment where they can openly discuss their concerns and goals. The initial session serves as an opportunity for us to get to know each other and establish a therapeutic relationship. I will ask questions to gain a better understanding of their background, current challenges, and desired outcomes. Clients are encouraged to share their experiences, emotions, and any relevant information they feel comfortable discussing. It is also a chance for clients to ask questions about my therapeutic approach, process, and what they can expect from future sessions. Together, we will discuss confidentiality and therapeutic boundaries to ensure a safe and trusting environment. Depending on the client's needs and preferences, we may begin exploring some of the presenting issues and start setting goals for therapy. By the end of the first session, clients should have a clearer understanding of how therapy can benefit them, and we will collaboratively develop a plan moving forward. I aim to make the first session informative, supportive, and an important step toward positive change and personal growth.
