My name is Johanna Torres, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I work with adults and specialize in working with young and middle-adult females experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, family conflicts and past trauma.
My approach
My approach to therapy is client-centered, promoting self-acceptance, self-esteem, and personal growth, and minimizing negative feelings. I frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Therapy.
My focus
I have found that my style and approach are a good fit for women that have the need to learn how to cope with life challenges and find a safe space to gain self-awareness, acceptance, and healing through trauma.
My communication style
My communication style is calm and empathetic, using active listening and understanding of the behaviors, beliefs, and values of the clients. I pride myself on my ability to provide a safe space for my clients where they can feel free to talk about their feelings, problems or situations to someone that will listen without judgment.
My journey to mental healthcare
I decided to become a therapist because it has always been my passion to help others and be the person that people can count on to actively listen without judgment to help them find a positive perspective.
My goals for you
Building trust and rapport with the client to identify and define what they want to accomplish during the time we will be working together. Helping the client establish goals and objectives.
My first session with you
During our first session we will use the time to talk about how you have been feeling and me asking questions to better understand the reason or situations that might be contributing to the symptoms and feelings that may be causing symptoms like anxiety, depression or low self-esteem among other symptoms.
