My name is Ieva Gates and I am licensed in Florida and New Jersey. I am a certified sex therapist and currently pursuing my PhD in clinical sexology. I utilize mindfulness techniques and equip my clients with strong coping skills to implement outside of sessions. My areas of expertise include working with relationship issues, sexual dysfunction, LGBTQ+ issues, depression, anxiety, and self-esteem.
My approach
I most often use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), strengths-based, skills training, and hypnotherapy in my work with clients.
My focus
I have worked in various settings, such as acute psychiatry, geriatric populations, public school systems, the child welfare system, and private practice. My areas of expertise include working with relationship issues, sexual dysfunction, LGBTQ+ issues, depression, anxiety, and self-esteem.
My communication style
I utilize a client-centered approach and provide a warm, safe, and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment for clients to express their feelings. I often times assign homework in between sessions so that clients can continue to implement the skills that were discussed during the session.
