My name is Dr. Melissa Waybrant-Ennis and I am a board certified Psychiatric Mental-Health Nurse Practitioner based in Florida, working with clients statewide via telehealth. While my specialty is working with children and adolescents, over the last 8 years, I have developed experience in working with clients across the lifespan. My focus is on the treatment of ADHD, mood disorders, trauma, psychosis, substance abuse, and chronic mental illness.
My approach
My approach to mental healthcare varies on the individual's needs. My focus is on treatment through the use of psychiatric assessment, medication management, and brief psychotherapeutic intervention for adult clients ages 5-99. I believe in developing an individualized plan of care that values client involvement, interprofessional collaboration, and evidence-based practice. My overall goal for my clients is to feel empowered to treat their illnesses through supportive education in a stigma-free environment.
My focus
My style and approach remain individualized making me a good fit for working with children, adolescents, and adults who experience challenges with focus and concentration, mood instability, insomnia, and even psychosis. I work to help my clients utilize medication management to help improve their coping skills and better manage their symptoms so that they can develop a more positive outlook on life.
My communication style
My communication style is calm, engaging, and empathetic. It is important for my clients to feel comfortable discussing anything with me, and I pride myself on being open and non-judgmental.
My journey to mental healthcare
Throughout my life, I have enjoyed working together with others to help them reach an ultimate goal. My varied life experiences have truly helped me to develop my communication skills and compassion for others. Being a Psychiatric health nurse Practitioner provides me with an outlet to help others during their darkest times, continue to grow, and reach their goals.
My goals for you
Goal setting starts with building trust and identifying the client's wants and expectations. My approach is working with the client to fully define what they want to work on, and then developing an individualized plan to progress towards those goals.
My first session with you
During the first session, the client can expect their visit to start with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation which includes gathering information about current and past mental health symptoms, family history, and medical history. The client should also expect to begin to develop their treatment goals, as well as receive education about diagnosis. The session should finish with a detailed discussion of available treatment options.
