Hi there, I'm Michelle!

My name is Michelle Gaede (she/they) and I am a licensed mental health counselor. I'm here to provide a safe space for you to navigate whatever challenges are coming up in your life. I work side by side with you to ensure you're heard, seen, and gain the tools you need to be successful. I have over 10 years of experience working with a variety of clients. I specialize in work with the LGBTQ+ community, as well as long-term trauma, parenting issues, and navigating general life stressors.

My approach

My approach is eclectic because every person is unique and has different needs. I use a strengths-based, systems-oriented, trauma-focused approach in all my work. I utilize CBT, DBT, humanistic, Gestalt, and concepts of psychodynamics in my work, depending on the needs of my clients.

My focus

I have experience working with a diverse population and all ages. I am comfortable treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, gender dysphoria, adjustment issues, and grief and loss. I have experience working with transgender and gender-diverse folks as well as anyone questioning identity and/or orientation.

My communication style

I want to provide you a moment of relief in your busy week - a place to set it all aside to focus on yourself and your needs, in a safe, relaxing environment. You won't have to worry about anything except the here and now, giving yourself a chance to really feel what is happening in your mind and body. I will ensure the time boundary is honored, so you know exactly what to expect each session. I can help you visualize a safe space to store the contents of the session, so you're ready to take on the day when the session is complete.

My journey to mental healthcare

Every person is on a journey. Sometimes we need extra support to get us through a difficult time. I've needed help, and I've been able to be that person for others. Seeing someone reach a goal or milestone they didn't think they could accomplish drives me to do this work. Seeing someone go from surviving to thriving is rewarding and exciting. I am honored to be on this journey with you.

My goals for you

You are the expert of you, so I'll walk alongside you to help define what goals you have in treatment. Goals are a way to ensure we have a focus and purpose for our sessions together and give a way to measure your progress.

My first session with you

During the first session, we will talk through the reason you are here, as well as review any necessary paperwork. This session is all about me getting to know you better!
