My name is Shanice Fluit, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Florida. I am an anxiety specialist and specialize in working with women and teens to navigate anxiety, perfectionism, people-pleasing, relational trauma, and co-dependency.
My approach
I consider myself to be an eclectic therapist, meaning I utilize various different interventions. I am client-centered, meaning I understand and respect the differences in individuals, therefore, use a personalized approach with each of my clients.
My focus
My ideal client is a woman or teen who considers herself to be highly sensitive, conflict-avoidant, and intellectualizes their feelings. These clients often feel disconnected from themselves and those around them, and struggle in relationships with others and self.
My communication style
As a relational therapist, I prioritize the client/therapist relationship as a leading indicator of success in therapy. I consider my clients to be the experts in their life, and I am a guide and safe space to help them get to where they'd like to be.
My journey to mental healthcare
Becoming a therapist wasn't just a career choice for me; it was a calling rooted deeply in my life experiences and passions. From a young age, I found myself drawn to understanding people, their emotions, their struggles, and their journey through life. This curiosity eventually evolved into a desire to help others navigate their own paths toward healing. One of the pivotal moments that solidified my decision was witnessing firsthand the transformative power of therapy in my own life. I saw how therapy could provide a safe space for exploration, vulnerability, and an inspiration for positive change. It was a life-changing experience to be able to confront deep-rooted fears, process painful experiences, and emerge a stronger, more resilient version of myself. This journey compelled me to want to take a seat in the other chair, to become a witness to this life-changing experience for others as well. Being a therapist is a privilege. I am deeply passionate about walking alongside people during some of their most challenging moments, to offer empathy, insight, and support when they need it most. The opportunity to contribute to someone's journey toward greater self-awareness, self-acceptance, and fulfillment, gifts me with a profound sense of purpose.
My goals for you
I identify goals with clients in the first couple of sessions. I ask clients what life will look like for them when they notice progress in their lives, how they will feel, and how they will ideally show up in relationships.
My first session with you
The first few sessions are dedicated to getting to know one another. What the presenting challenges are in your life, what my therapy style is, and identifying goals.
