Hi there, I'm Lee-Anna!

My name is Lee-Anna Bardun. I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with 10 years of experience. Whether it is anxiety, depression, trauma, or just everyday life stress, I am here to listen with a nonjudgmental ear and help you to achieve your therapeutic goals.

My approach

My approach to therapy is to learn about my clients to understand who they are and what they want to achieve in counseling. I often use cognitive behavioral, client-centered, and solutions-focused techniques, as well as motivational interviewing, psycho-education, and positive psychology.

My focus

I have seen a large variety of clients. I am very comfortable working with clients who have a history of anxiety, depression, relationship problems, family issues, chronic stress, anger management problems, and PTSD. I have an extensive background in substance use disorders and would feel comfortable working with clients who are in recovery and need support with maintaining long-term sobriety.

My communication style

I would say my sessions are very client-centered, and I listen more than I speak. My client takes the lead with how they want to spend the session, and I allow them to tell me what they want to focus their time on. I always make sure it's a quiet space without distractions, and I try to add humor when I can!

My journey to mental healthcare

I started college as a Journalism major, and I noticed all the stories I wanted to write were about the struggles of people who were suffering. I realized along the way that I did not just want to write about these injustices; I wanted to help people who are suffering. So I changed my major to Psychology and went to grad school for counseling, and here I am 10 years later. I also learned through my experience more about my own struggles and how I was shaped by my background, experiences, and family upbringing. I believe in therapy because I've been there myself, and I know that it can really change lives. Over the years, my clients have taught me so much, and I am so impressed by their ability to overcome so many obstacles.

My goals for you

I ask my clients what they would like to improve in their life and what they are hoping to achieve by the time they are ready to be "done" with counseling. Goals can be big or small, but they should always be set by the client.

My first session with you

The first session will consist of gathering information about the client, including why they are currently seeking counseling, what kind of symptoms they are experiencing, learning about their past, their family history, and determining their goals for therapy.
