I am Heather Callam (FL LCSW SW18377) a therapist who has a passion for helping others break free from burdens. I believe our deepest secrets can be blockages to moving forward in life. My mission with every client is to create a space where they feel safe to be authentic while learning ways to regain control of their lives. I am honored to support you in this journey you are getting ready to embark on and I am rooting for your success in the healing process. I am sending you well wishes and a safe space to chat.
My approach
Cognitive behavioral therapy, Solution Focus, and Narrative Therapy are my most common theoretical approaches.
My focus
I typically focus on trauma or helping clients navigate challenging life experiences.
My communication style
I have a person-centered pattern of communication; Non-judgmental, empathetic, and supportive. I am laid back and allow clients to take the lead in exploring their thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
My journey to mental healthcare
I started off as a social worker doing assessments for low-income families in need of food, housing, clothing, and therapeutic services and then transitioned into working with kids in the foster care system as a therapist.
My goals for you
From completing the assessment I will know what goals need to be worked on. However, I will always ask the client, what goals they would like to work on during sessions.
My first session with you
The 1st session is all about the client. I typically want to hear the reasons for coming to therapy at this time.
