Hi there, I'm Tamara!

My name is Tamara and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida. With over 8 years of experience, I am dedicated to helping individuals achieve holistic wellness by focusing on the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit. My therapeutic approach integrates evidence-based practices with a deep understanding of the importance of emotional and physical well-being, guiding clients on their journey toward balance and fulfillment.

My approach

I believe in the importance of setting clear and attainable goals for my clients, providing them with a structured path toward personal growth and healing. Utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) approaches, I work collaboratively with each client to identify and address challenges, focusing on strategies that enhance their overall well-being. Together, we develop actionable plans that are tailored to individual needs, ensuring that progress is meaningful and sustainable.

My focus

I specialize in working with clients who are navigating challenges related to anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and self-esteem issues. My therapeutic approach is designed to address these complex experiences with compassion and evidence-based strategies, empowering clients to overcome obstacles and achieve greater emotional resilience and self-confidence.

My communication style

I take a direct and goal-oriented approach with my clients, ensuring that our work together is focused and productive. To maximize progress, I provide resources and homework assignments between sessions, giving clients practical tools and exercises to apply in their daily lives. This approach helps to reinforce the insights gained during our sessions and accelerates the journey toward achieving their therapeutic goals.

My journey to mental healthcare

My journey to becoming a therapist began with an initial plan to attend law school. In undergrad, I studied criminology and criminal justice, driven by an interest in the legal aspects of human behavior. However, as I delved deeper into my studies, I found myself at a crossroads. Seeking clarity, I turned to therapy and career counseling, where I discovered that my true passion lay in understanding the psychology behind human behavior rather than its legal implications. This realization led me to pursue a career in mental health counseling, where I could combine my interest in human behavior with a desire to help others achieve emotional and psychological well-being.

My goals for you

Goal setting in my practice is a collaborative process that takes into consideration each client’s unique needs and values. I believe that the best outcomes are achieved when clients are actively involved in defining their goals, ensuring that they are both meaningful and aligned with what truly matters to them. Together, we create a roadmap that reflects their personal values, paving the way for lasting and impactful change.

My first session with you

During our first session, we will explore the presenting problems to give me a better understanding of what you've been feeling and experiencing. This initial discussion will help us identify the needs and goals that are most important for your therapeutic journey. Together, we'll begin to map out a personalized plan that addresses your unique challenges and paves the way toward meaningful progress and healing.
