Hi! I am Valeria Gaig Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida, where I have lived for more than 7 years I received my master's degree from the University of Buenos Aires, and I have been practicing this profession for 31 years.
My approach
-Psychodynamics allowed me to develop active listening, helping clients feel relieved and find their pathway in a safe space where they will not be judged. -Sometimes in cases of depression, anxiety, or food disorders, we find certain beliefs that represent an obstacle to achieving a healthy way to live and feeling happy. We often know what would do us well and don't do it. And we find thoughts that generate feelings or behaviors that do not do us well. The challenge is replacing those distorted thoughts with healthier alternatives that allow us to live better. This approach came from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). -Throughout my career, I have seen the need to work with parents because I believe that small early interventions are very useful in preventing and improving the life of someone, I have specialized in babies, children, and adolescents focusing on that perspective.
My focus
My clients are of all ages, I am interested in working to build a life project according to each person who is available to their possibilities, leaving states of anguish, depression, or anxiety that prevent them from being happy and becoming the best versions of themselves.
My communication style
I rely on evidence-based, scientific techniques, but my style is warm, close, and welcoming. My goal is to establish a safe space where clients feel comfortable opening up and exploring their concerns at their own pace.
My journey to mental healthcare
Thanks to a difficult life story, I was able to see in my own family how useful therapy could be to cure phobias, depression, grief, etc. And I wanted to be the one who transformed the lives of others as they had done with me and my family. We do not choose our story but we do choose what to do with what we have to live.
My goals for you
The treatment goals will be established jointly with the client. I am interested in discovering the logic of each person and the way to enjoy each one, within a healthy and positive framework for the client.
My first session with you
In our first session together, we will begin with brief presentations, then we will immerse ourselves in the specific challenges it faces and we will specify what are the objectives you want to work in the treatment. This will help me create a personalized plan to work.
