Greetings. My name is Renee Taylor, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and certified sex therapist in Florida. When working with a new client, I start by understanding where you are now, your challenges, concerns, and desired outcomes. My focus areas of practice are sexual and relational health and well-being.
My approach
My holistic and eclectic therapeutic approach focuses on the individual's resources and strengths. I incorporate self-love and mindfulness to aid my clients in their growth and healing process. I am EMDR trained and use narrative therapy, empowerment, meditation, and cognitive behavior, in my practice. My goal is to provide clients with a wealth of tools to utilize during and after counseling.
My focus
I work with clients with sexual and relationship trauma, including but not limited to childhood sexual abuse, domestic violence survivors, and recovering from narcissistic partners. As well as sexual issues and erectile dysfunction, low libido, sexual compatibility in relationships, menopause, STIs, and HIV. I have also successfully worked with clients to heal from parental wounds of neglect and abandonment, grief, death, dying, and managing long-term illnesses.
My communication style
Even though we will meet virtually, I aim to provide a welcoming environment by giving you my full attention during our sessions. I am empathic and have learned to listen for what is not said because I recognize the challenge of finding your voice. I allow clients to process and express their feelings openly and honestly by creating a non-judgmental and accepting space.
My journey to mental healthcare
I decided to go back to school and pursue a career in counseling at the age of 40. Before making this decision, I ran a pleasure party company. Through the interactions and conversations with guests, I realized that many people were suffering from sexual trauma, shame, and dysfunction and didn't know where to seek help. I wanted to give people the tools to heal and live a fulfilled life of growth, pleasure, and wonder.
My goals for you
Setting goals with clients is a crucial part of the therapeutic process. It starts with understanding the client's challenges and desired outcomes, which builds rapport and trust. This also needs to be a collaboration to foster a sense of ownership and commitment to the goals. It is important that the goals set are attainable, manageable, and relevant to the client's desired outcome.
My first session with you
Building rapport is key to fostering a viable therapeutic relationship. The first session is about getting to know each other, allowing the client to discuss their purpose for counseling, ask questions, and gain an understanding of the therapeutic process. It also sets the standards for confidentiality and boundaries.
