Hello, I am Sean Malott, a licensed mental health therapist. I am dedicated to helping individuals navigate their unique journey toward healing and personal growth. I specialize in helping clients facing anxiety, depression, addiction issues, low self-esteem/self-worth.
My approach
My approach is eclectic, combining CBT, mindfulness, and solution-focused therapy to meet the needs of my clients. I do not believe in telling a client what to do, but offer different perspectives and suggestions to help the client discover solutions for their difficulties.
My focus
I typically work with adult clients who are seeking support for various mental health challenges and personal growth. I have 10 years of experience working with clients with addiction issues, depression, anxiety, self-acceptance, and negative views of self.
My communication style
I am committed to providing a safe place for clients to allow themselves to be vulnerable in exploring their difficulties. I do not judge. I want clients to feel heard discover their strengths and utilize this to make meaningful changes in their lives. My goal is to develop a collaborative therapeutic relationship that promotes resilience, self-awareness, and positive change.
My journey to mental healthcare
Like you, I have had difficulties in my life. I grew up in a dysfunctional home with abuse. I had at, one time, addiction issues which greatly impacted my life and overcame 20 years ago. I understand the pain of low self-esteem and the negative committee in our head. I worked through all of that and now know we can overcome anything and live the life we always wanted. I began working as a teen mentor and found helping others was so rewarding on a spiritual and emotional level. I decided then at the age of 35 to go to college and pursue a career in the helping field. I put in the work and attained a master's degree in mental health counseling and have never looked back.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting is collaborative, person-centered, and rooted in the belief anyone can create positive change in their lives. Change can be difficult and even scary at times, but staying stuck in thoughts and behaviors that no longer serve us is harder. During our first session,
My first session with you
During our first session, my goal is to create a welcoming, safe, and non-judgmental space where they can share their story. I believe developing good therapeutic rapport is paramount to the therapist-client relationship.
