Hi there, I'm Panya!

Hello, my name is Panya Mitchell, I am a licensed Marriage, Couples Family Therapist with a specialization in trauma. I work with children, families, and individuals, helping them navigate life's challenges, whether they are related to personal development, family dynamics, or specific mental health concerns.

My approach

I use a comprehensive and integrative approach to therapy, drawing on a variety of evidence-based modalities to meet the unique needs of each client. My practice includes cognitive behavioral therapy, talk therapy, narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, and family systems therapy. These methods allow me to explore the intricate dynamics of thoughts, behaviors, and relationships, facilitating positive change and personal growth.

My focus

In my practice, I am deeply committed to supporting clients who are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and behavioral issues, particularly within the context of family dynamics. With children, families, and individuals, helping them to address and overcome challenges related to mental health and interpersonal relationships.

My communication style

I like to create a safe, empathetic space where clients can explore their experiences, develop resilience, and foster healthier patterns of behavior. Whether it's managing anxiety, processing trauma, or resolving family conflict, my approach is tailored to meet each client's unique needs, empowering them to achieve lasting, positive change.

My journey to mental healthcare

My journey to becoming a therapist was deeply influenced by my decade-long experience as a teacher, where I worked closely with children and families. It was during this time that I developed a passion for understanding the unique dynamics of family relationships and the impact they have on individual well-being. Additionally, the complexities within my own family further fuel my desire to help others navigate their personal challenges. Transitioning into therapy felt like a natural progression for me, as I wanted to make a more profound impact on people's lives. The most rewarding aspect of my work is witnessing the relief and growth my clients experience over time. Seeing them gain self-esteem, develop self-insight, and build the resilience to face life challenges brings me immense fulfillment. Being a therapist allows me to support others in their journey toward healing and personal growth, I am grateful for the opportunity to walk alongside them in this process.

My goals for you

In my work with clients, goal setting is a collaborative and dynamic process. I believe that meaningful and achievable goals are essential to the therapeutic journey. Together, we identify and clarify the areas of concern, then break down these concerns into manageable steps that align with the client's values and aspirations. I encourage clients to actively participate in setting their own goals, ensuring that these objectives are realistic, measurable, and tailored to their individual needs by regularly reviewing progress and adjusting goals as necessary, we create a flexible framework that supports continuous growth and positive change throughout the therapeutic process.

My first session with you

During the first session, my primary focus is on creating a welcoming and comfortable environment where you can begin to share your story. We will spend time discussing your reasons for seeking therapy, your current challenges, and any goals you may have for us to work together. We will start by gathering some background information to better understand your unique situation. My goal is to establish a foundation of trust and safety, so you feel supported as we embark on this journey together.
