Hi! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years of counseling experience. I am here to sincerely assist in providing new coping skills, new perspectives, and interactional interventions to directly link your problem to solutions.
My approach
I am proud to announce that I was trained under gurus who specialized in family system theory and technique. This offers an interactional dynamic, utilizing patterns of thought and emotions as a means to rectory and redirect to new more effective ways of coping.
My focus
I work with all age groups. My areas of expertise include adults with stress, anxiety, family issues, and parenting issues. I provide interactional, communication skills and will reframe issues to maximize positive aspects. I continue to address psychosocial stressors, including working with seniors.
My communication style
I am a strong interviewer. I ask thought-provoking questions and use that as gathering information and therapeutic intervention. Establish a therapeutic rapport by validating their perspectives, clear of any negative communication. I refer to their counseling goals throughout sessions.
My journey to mental healthcare
I took a sociology class freshman year of college. My professor asked me as a student to work part-time to help her with her PhD dissertation. She told me to volunteer in a social work agency. Which I did at Bayside Runaway Center in Tampa, FL. I worked in this career ever since and received my Master of Social Work degree in 1990.
My goals for you
I must understand a client's perspective regarding their main reason for coming to counseling. I work with them in an interview style, in regards to their past and current solutions, and people involved in the problem-saturated system. Goals are clear and time frames are established. Interventions are also included for changes in their behavior and new perspectives.
My first session with you
I start with a professional greeting. My first question might be, What brings you to counseling and how can I be most helpful. I will ask many questions in regards to their response concluding with maybe a counseling goal, or a therapeutic homework assignment.
