Hello! My name is Yolanda Tingler, but I prefer to be called Rhonda. My license number in FL is SW13846. I treat a variety of conditions including but not limited to ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Bipolar, Personality Disorders, OCD, Phobias, Trauma, Military life issues, etc. using a variety of techniques.
My approach
I use several approaches depending on the client's needs such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychotherapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Behavioral-Focused Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, etc.
My focus
I specialize in individual, family, and group therapy for both Deaf/Hard of Hearing, people with disabilities, and hearing individuals. I have been a Sign Language Interpreter for 25 years, so I am fluent in American Sign Language. I also work with college students as I am knowledgeable regarding student issues and academic needs. I prefer to work with teenagers through the elderly population.
My communication style
My primary goal is to create a safe, relaxing environment to help you identify and cope more effectively with problems in your daily life as well as help you deal with internal conflicts such as anxiety, fear, trauma, and depression so that you can achieve a happier and more peaceful life. I work to develop a strong bond with each client as I believe the therapeutic relationship is the primary tool for growth and change. Most clients describe their experience with me as feeling less clinical.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was a Sign Language Interpreter for 25 years and still am, and during those years of interpreting, I interpreted many intakes and counseling sessions that I noticed were not as effective as they could have been and felt that I could become a social worker to help this underserved population with a better cultural understanding as well as counsel other populations that I have experience with such as students, people with disabilities, etc.
My goals for you
I review symptoms reported and establish goals to decrease those symptoms with the clients and talk with my clients to determine what goals they would like to work on in therapy and improve functioning and quality of life.
My first session with you
You can expect a relaxed atmosphere where I will conduct an intake and ask you a variety of questions to gain a better understanding of your history and problems that you are experiencing. This information will help me to diagnose you and develop a treatment plan on how we will proceed in therapy and what we will be working on together. This treatment plan is a living document, so it may change as we go along in the process.
