My name is Marina Livis and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in West Palm Beach, FL and working with clients statewide via telehealth. I'm a neurodivergent therapist and specialize in helping adults with anxiety, depression, stress management, PTSD and ASD, using evidence based approaches including EMDR, EFT tapping, mindfulness meditation practices, cognitive behavioral and clinical hypnotherapy.
My approach
My approach to therapy is trauma-informed and focuses primarily on EFT tapping, mindfulness training, and EMDR for clients who have experienced traumatic events and are looking to feel not just symptom relief but also a shift in their core beliefs. For those clients who are open to it, I also incorporate hypnotherapy in order to identify and change subconscious blocks.
My focus
I have found that my style and approach are the best fit for adults who have a high motivation for change, appreciate more directive therapy instead of traditional talk therapy, and are looking for a neurodivergent therapist with a similar mindset as them. The conditions I have successfully treated include anxiety, depression, stress, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I have also been told that I'm a good fit for parents of adult children with ASD/autism spectrum disorder, and am effective at helping them support their child better.
My communication style
I have been told that I have a peaceful and calming presence. My communication style is very direct, empathetic, and friendly. My clients feel at ease speaking with me and appreciate that I use appropriate self-disclosure to share about my holistic healing journey with mental health. I've also had past clients share with me that they value my authenticity.
My journey to mental healthcare
Throughout childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood, I struggled with anxiety and depression. Since I was unsuccessful at finding a therapist who was the right fit for me, I decided to become one so that I could help others struggling with similar conditions. When I was late diagnosed with ASD (formerly known as Asperger's), I became very passionate about supporting other neurodivergent people who either suspected or had a formal diagnosis.
My goals for you
I use a solution-focused approach to goal setting, sometimes incorporating the miracle question if a client is struggling to identify a specific goal for therapy. Establishing rapport and trust is of course an important part of the process.
My first session with you
Usually, during the first session, I ask questions to get to know you and find out what motivated you to enroll in therapy. I use active listening to help you feel heard and establish rapport.
