Hello. I am Geneva Thompson. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with experience in providing mental health services to clients of all ages. I received my Master of Social Work degree in 2020 and have provided individual, family, and group therapy to children and adults in multiple settings including community care, private practice, and full-service schools. I have received postgraduate specialized training in DBT and EMDR treatment modalities.
My approach
I provide individualized care with various treatment modalities. I am passionate about providing a safe space where people can develop skills to understand and process their emotions and trauma-related symptoms.
My focus
I work with older children, adolescents, and adults who are struggling with issues like depression, anxiety, trauma-related symptoms, and many other mental health-related issues.
My communication style
I try to create a relaxed, calm environment where clients feel comfortable being their genuine selves without fear of judgment or criticism.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became a therapist because I wanted the opportunity to positively impact others. I value being able to provide compassion and support to people as they navigate through difficult times.
My goals for you
I partner with my clients to customize their treatment plans to fit their preferences for treatment style/modality as well as to meet their personal goals.
My first session with you
During our first session, clients should expect to be listened to and heard (these two are not the same thing) as I seek to get to know them and understand their struggles.
