I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Florida who helps individuals, families, and communities cope with life's obstacles and relational conflicts to work towards thriving instead of surviving. I earned a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Tulane University. I also have a Mental Health, Addiction, and the Family Certificate.
My approach
I approach therapy from a person-in-environment perspective. I place significant importance on understanding an individual’s behavior based on various environmental factors. I provide a unique balance of person-centered psychotherapy and scientific insight to guide the therapeutic journey.
My focus
I have a passion for helping people dealing with life transition, trauma, and relationship issues. I am experienced in helping clients who are living with depression, anxiety, gender issues, codependency, and marginalization.
My communication style
My intent is to create a space that allows you to be your true self. The environment is one of mutual respect and honest and open communication. You will assisted in understanding you have everything within to to accomplish the goals established during treatment.
My journey to mental healthcare
As an Officer in the military, I learned that helping the people I led overcome life was my passion and my gift. I learned that small issues turn into larger issues if they are not resolved properly. My goal is to use my knowledge and skills to empower individuals, families, and communities to become their best versions. I do this work to provide access and awareness to populations who seldom take advantage of life-changing solutions that therapy and coaching offer.
My goals for you
My goal-setting approach is highly collaborative, individualized, and goal-oriented. I first try to learn about you and how you developed your viewpoints. I then help you as the expert of YOUR life to create therapeutic goals. You will determine what success looks like for you and I will support you as you navigate your journey.
My first session with you
During the first session, clients can expect to work with me to establish the norms of what the session will be like going forward. I will also use the first session to begin gathering information that will assist me in understanding what evidence-based practices can best address the client's issues. The ultimate goal of the first session is to start building the foundation of trust and for me to better understand how the client views the world.
