My approach
My approach to therapy is rooted in creating a safe, non-judgmental, and collaborative environment where clients feel empowered to explore and address their challenges. I primarily use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) in my work. CBT helps clients identify and change negative thought patterns, EFT focuses on deepening emotional connections within relationships, and SFBT emphasizes finding practical solutions to current problems. I also incorporate trauma-informed care and systemic perspectives to ensure that therapy addresses the individual in the context of their relationships and environment.
My focus
I typically work with individuals and couples who are navigating challenges related to relationships, intimacy, and sexual health, including those within alternative lifestyles such as BDSM, kink, ethical non-monogamy, and the LGBTQ+ community. I am most comfortable treating conditions such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, complex trauma, and sexual dysfunction, including erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, and desire/arousal issues. Additionally, I support clients dealing with substance abuse and those struggling with the impact of cultural, religious, and societal influences on their sexual behaviors and identities.
My communication style
In my sessions, I create a tone that is blunt, direct, assertive, and transparent, ensuring that communication is clear and honest. Clients can expect a straightforward and no-nonsense approach, which helps in addressing issues directly and effectively. Working with me often feels refreshing and empowering, as we focus on tackling challenges head-on and developing practical solutions while maintaining a respectful and supportive atmosphere.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was drawn to a career as a therapist because I wanted to help individuals navigate the complex emotional conflicts that often arise from cultural and familial expectations. Growing up with immigrant parents, I saw firsthand how cultural differences and generational gaps can impact one's emotional well-being and relationships. This personal experience fueled my passion for supporting others who face similar challenges, helping them reconcile their cultural heritage with their personal identities and emotional needs. My work is driven by a commitment to creating a space where clients can explore these conflicts and find healing, acceptance, and personal growth.
My goals for you
I strive to create a warm, supportive, and non-judgmental environment in my sessions, where clients feel safe to express themselves openly and honestly. My approach is collaborative, and I work closely with clients to explore their concerns at a pace that feels comfortable for them. Clients often describe our work together as empowering and validating, with a focus on building trust and fostering self-compassion as they navigate their personal challenges.
My first session with you
During the first session, clients can expect a welcoming and open conversation where we explore their reasons for seeking therapy and what they hope to achieve. I’ll ask questions to get a better understanding of their background, current challenges, and any specific goals they have in mind. We’ll also discuss the structure of therapy, confidentiality, and any questions they may have about the process. My aim is to create a comfortable space where clients feel heard and understood as we begin to build a therapeutic relationship.
