Hi there, I'm Shirley!

I am an experienced and compassionate therapist dedicated to helping individuals and families. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and Master's Level Certified Addiction Professional (MCAP), with 15 years of expertise. My passion for overall healthy living extends to my work, where I create a safe and supportive environment for your healing journey

My approach

In the therapeutic process, the client assumes an active role in guiding the direction of their journey. My primary responsibility is to provide the necessary support essential for the attainment of your articulated objectives. Collaboratively addressing both historical and present challenges, constitutes our paramount objective. As a compassionate listener, my commitment is to provide a supportive environment conducive to client-centered exploration and growth.

My focus

Throughout my professional career, I have accrued extensive experience in diverse therapeutic settings, facilitating individuals in identifying life's adversities and progressing toward their envisioned goals. My practice encompasses engagement with clientele spanning all demographic spectrums and clinical diagnoses. My overarching objective is to collaboratively assist you in navigating the path toward your identified aspirations, fostering a supportive environment.

My communication style

I am dedicated to providing a safe, comfortable environment with a client-centered approach to your therapeutic needs. I strive to foster a sense of trust with a respectful and collaborative environment which is crucial for an effective therapeutic environment.

My journey to mental healthcare

My journey to becoming a therapist was natural. "You should be a therapist" is a continuous statement I heard from people. I initially went to school and received a bachelor's in Business. That career choice never felt appropriate for me. I decided to go back to school to get my master's. Needless to say, getting my masters in Mental Health Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy was the best decision for me. I was exactly where I was supposed to be. This career option comes very naturally to me and I am happy to provide a service and support to my community.

My goals for you

I approach goal setting in a manner that the client is the expert in what goals they would like to work towards. An effective collaboration to identify key areas that you would like to see change and or improvement and determine specific, measurable, and achievable goals.

My first session with you

In our initial session, I aim to establish a foundation for therapeutic engagement by facilitating an exploration of your presenting concerns, identifying specific challenges that have prompted your decision to pursue therapy, and collaboratively establishing therapeutic goals. Subsequent sessions will build upon this foundation, fostering a progressive trajectory in your therapeutic journey. My role is to provide empathetic support and guidance as you navigate this process.
