Hey there! My name is Lauren Matos. I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I use an eclectic approach to therapy, which means I typically choose methods and tools depending on each individual person's needs. I have 12 years of experience helping people with anxiety, trauma, addiction, and getting over toxic relationships.
My approach
I most often use a combination of CBT, REBT, solution-focused therapy, and reality therapy. I also have extensive experience with motivational interviewing. Additionally, I have training in EFT.
My focus
I mostly work with adults who deal with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and addiction. I also help people who deal with toxic family.
My communication style
I tend to be very direct and to the point. I use a lot of metaphors to help with understanding. I am also non-directive, meaning I allow my clients to set the agenda for each session.
My journey to mental healthcare
I chose to be a therapist to help other people who might be dealing with family who have mental health issues, as I have family that struggles with mental health as well. I love watching clients grow and change over time to meet their goals.
My goals for you
I allow clients to freely set goals and work to support my clients in reaching them on their own timeline. I have tools for assisting with goal setting if needed.
My first session with you
My first session is normally focused on building rapport and getting to understand the issues a client is looking for help with.
