I am an LCSW who utilizes an eclectic blend of approaches to help clients get unstuck from what may be holding them back. I pull resources from my extensive background in education, the arts, and mind-body approaches and combine them with the best evidence-based treatment modalities to help clients achieve breakthroughs, particularly in the areas of neurodiversity, trauma healing, and relationships.
My approach
I utilize a combination of cognitive and mind-body techniques including CBT and eclectic approaches.
My focus
I can treat the most common conditions of anxiety and depression, but also specialize in treating trauma and neurodiversity. I am very good at helping with life transitions like going to college, changing jobs, or navigating divorce or health challenges.
My communication style
I am warm, empathetic, and solution-focused. I am skilled in mind-body-sprit approaches as well as creative approaches to treatment. My background in social work helps me to see clients from a strength-based perspective and help them navigate the systems or structures that may be limiting their potential. I am very well-versed in working with clients of various religious backgrounds and ethnicities having traveled and worked extensively overseas.
My journey to mental healthcare
I became an LCSW after six years of study and internships. My first career was in the arts as a university professor and workshop leader. A host of synchronicities led me to teach creative writing at a summer camp for kids where I got my start as a study skills and test preparation instructor. Through working primarily with artistic and neurodivergent kids, I found a real passion for cognitive psychology and positive psychology. This led me to pursue an MSW, and then an LCSW so that I could better meet the needs of people confronting challenges in their world. What drives me to continue with this work is faith and optimism in people, that once we are strengthened and healed we can help make the world a better place for all of us.
My goals for you
Consider me a partner with a few extra resources. I really believe in my client's ability to set their own goals and I am here to support that process with resources and techniques I have picked up along the way from my own healing journey and from partnering with clients.
My first session with you
The first session we will go over your reasons for coming to therapy including some background of what brought you here today. I also strive to give actionable help and strategies in the very first session so that you have confidence going forward in your treatment.
