my name is John Betancourt a dedicated therapist and advocate who is a Licensed clinical social worker, certified addictions professional, international certified drug counselor, and behavior analyst.
My approach
I use a strength-based perspective identifying how to use your strengths to attack your deficits and incorporate cognitive behavior therapy, interpersonal therapy, and motivational Interviewing techniques to empower you to improve your trajectory.
My focus
My specialties include addictions as a certified addictions professional, behavior modification as a Behavior Analyst, and as a Licensed Therapist with experience dealing with anxiety, depression, and mood disorders. I have also worked in health coaching and with the ASD population.

My goals for you
In my opinion goal setting is done best after a real understanding of what the client wants from his gained insight brought together within the first sessions. A collaboration between the therapist and client that naturally establishes objectives to achieve.
My first session with you
We will begin with pairing with each other and establishing rapport and then some psychoeducation and some learning for you to explore some basic concepts of theories and then we identify goals and objectives to work on together. You will be armed with some great tools and understanding of how the mind and body are connected and finally, you will have a detailed guide for the challenges you will face in the future.
