As a woman so much is expected from us and many times we are left feeling like our cup is empty. I am Dr. Crystal-Ann England and I specialize in working with women who are trying to find balance, women who are still in search of who they are, women who are trying to heal & evolve, and women who need a safe place to rest their weary heart. As a working mom of two, I understand, and I can help.
My approach
I utilize holistic practices, mind/body/spirit connection techniques, breath work, movement visualization, journaling, role play, and integrative tools to help my clients achieve their desired goals on their journey to growth, healing, and evolution.
My focus
As a 1st Generation Caribbean woman (Guyanese/Jamaican), I know the stigmas that are associated with therapy. I have built my practice on helping Caribbean women and couples find comfort and guidance in therapy. As a Caribbean woman, I understand the culture and family dynamics that is so unique to our experience. It is my goal to soften the stigmas around therapy within my community and provide healing spaces for those who seek solace and understanding.
My communication style
I try to create an environment where my clients can feel emotionally safe enough to share and process the things they struggle with. My goal is to help my clients feel understood and validate their experience.
My journey to mental healthcare
I come from a HUGE family. My mother is 1 of 15 and my father is 1 of 6, I literally have over a hundred cousins. As a child, I was always very intrigued by human behavior and interactions. My dad and I used to spend time sitting and observing people at the mall food court and the park. We would make up stories about their lives and pretend to know what they would be saying to their companions. Human behavior is fascinating to me, I believe that we are all mirrors, constantly reflecting back to others our humanity. I also believe that we all have the capacity to live a life of joy and fulfillment. However, in this life, we can get stuck, and that is when we need a mirror to reflect back all the answers we already possess inside of us, that's where I come in.
My goals for you
During the very first interaction with my clients, I will ask a series of questions that will highlight the goals of therapy. We will then discuss markers that will indicate if the therapeutic goals are being met. My goal is to help my clients find the confidence to utilize the tools and strategies they learn in our time together.
My first session with you
During the first session, clients should expect to identify their therapeutic goals, discuss how I can best support them on their journey to growth/evolution, and walk away feeling hopeful about their healing.
