Hello My Name, is Howard Weightman III LMHC MH21609. I am a person-centered therapist who focuses on Depression, Anxiety, and PTSD in Men and women. I specialize in trauma and abuse in men and women from work-related acute stress and PTSD, child abuse, physical and sexual assault, Addiction aftercare, and family members living with a person in recovery from Addiction.
My approach
I am a person-centered therapist who uses individual Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, and Brainspotting trauma focus therapy to help my clients identify the triggers to their emotional worries and develop healthy ways to process and cope with those emotions for an improved personal and professional life.
My focus
I prefer to work with men and women between the ages of 12 and 65 who are dealing with Depression, Anxiety, and PTSD from work or family-related Trauma. I am also taking clients looking for aftercare from substance recovery programs, and family members who have a loved one dealing with substance recovery and the trauma that comes with living with a family member in addiction.
My communication style
I like to say that I have two eyes to watch you with, two ears to listen to you with, and one mouth. When I do speak, I want it to be in the form of a question so that you can figure out what works best for you in your life. The goal is for you to answer the "why" questions in your life so you can find joy in your personal and professional lives.
My journey to mental healthcare
I was in the United States Navy for 14 years. I realized my greatest success and passion was to help young men and women improve their life. I got out and went to Jacksonville University to learn and grow so that I can be there for men and women dealing with horrible life events and be strong with them to help them get through the trauma, and excel because of the trauma, not break under it.
My goals for you
I am a systemic person. I want to identify the triggers to include the people, places, and things that cause you emotional pain, then I want to develop personalized coping skills from your life that you can use to process and cope when triggered.
My first session with you
I have a five-step process in therapy. The first step is to build a therapeutic relationship of trust, communication, and understanding between the therapist and the client. The second step is to explore emotions and discomforts of emotion. The third is to question and assess emotional dysfunction for step four. I want to create insight and step five reorientation of life with new information.
