My focus
I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, LGBTQ+-related issues, relationship issues, personality disorders, bipolar disorder, & trauma and abuse. I specialize in Trauma counseling and am also a Certified Mind Body Medicine practitioner. I incorporate Mind-Body Medicine techniques in therapy to help release stored trauma if clients feel these techniques are useful.
My communication style
I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. I am here to support and empower my clients in that journey. My clients are in charge of the direction we take in our therapy sessions and we will always go at their pace. I provide a safe space and build rapport with my clients to foster a relationship of trust and support.
My journey to mental healthcare
My reason for entering the field of Mental Health counseling is because I wanted to become the person I needed but didn't have when I was young. As someone who has survived trauma and abuse in my youth, I am very compassionate and can relate to those struggles. My goal is to help my clients heal through the pain they have suffered, and develop strength, clarity, and resiliency that will bring them peace, security, and a healthier happier life.
My goals for you
I work hand in hand with my clients to help them create therapeutic goals based on their individual needs. As we build a relationship based on safety and trust, we will work together to decide what the client's overall goals are and then break them down into smaller attainable steps so that they can experience accomplishment early on in therapy.
My first session with you
Our first session will be spent building rapport, and gaining general information about what led the client to seek therapy. We will also work together on an intake form to gain background information and go over informed consent so that the client will understand the codes and ethics of the therapeutic relationship. We will also discuss any questions the client has so that they will be clear on what to expect from our future sessions. I will emphasize that the client is in charge of the direction we take in order to provide them comfort and security.
