Welcome! I am Shani Hoffman, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I reside in Jacksonville, Florida, and provide telehealth counseling statewide. I invite you into an open and safe space to take the next steps in your journey. My primary focus is working with adults and substance use disorder/addiction, depression, and anxiety. If this is your first time considering therapy or telehealth( or not), my goal is to start Client/person-centered That is wherever you are.
My approach
I have an eclectic approach to therapy drawing from Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focused, Strength Based, and Relational to create the most comprehensive and individualized treatment plan for you. Incorporating various modalities compliments your existing inner strengths, allowing you to progress forward with purpose and intention.
My focus
My clientele are adults with substance use disorder, addiction, anxiety, depression, and often a combination of dual diagnoses. Sometimes clients may be at a transitioning phase in life and need to process and reflect. I also have experience working with chronic pain, grief, and in treatment centers.
My communication style
Professionalism mixed with a casual nature elicits a comfortable atmosphere. I facilitate an environment of encouragement and validation. Therapy can be challenging at times. We do the work together.
My journey to mental healthcare
I have always been drawn to humanities. Social work is broad enough to bring a diversity of interest with the ability to focus on more specialized areas. Having understanding, acceptance and adept listening skills allowed me to recognize the value of being a therapist. I have worked with a multitude of clientele. I continue to investigate, learn, and incorporate new research and ideas. I have a deep love for animals and appreciate the Human-Animal Bond. I thoroughly enjoy doing what I do.

After the initial session, I will have a treatment plan that I will go through with you. It will outline your desired goals. I will introduce new tools and incorporate strengthening exercises for you to explore. We will "check-in" to monitor your progress and have measurable outcomes. My first session with you
I understand therapy can seem intimidating or overwhelming. It can also be curious and new. You have acknowledged there is a desire for change. The first session is focused on: facilitating a connection, discovering your goals and expectations, gathering more information, and ultimately making sure you and I are a "good fit".
