Hello, I am Laura Roland, a licensed mental health therapist with over 20 years of experience. I am very warm, direct, and caring, and create a safe, non-judgmental space for my clients to begin or continue their healing journey. I am trained in Complex PTSD and telehealth EMDR. I am a Certified Informed Sexual Professional and I am continuing my education to obtain my Sex and Relationship certification. I work well with those struggling with anxiety, trauma, abuse, sexual abuse, veterans, relationship issues, and women's issues.
My approach
I use a lot of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior therapy, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy) to name a few. I also use Jungian approach, especially with archetypes and dream analysis.
My focus
I work well with adults of all ages who want to improve their lives. Adults who understand healing can be a lifelong journey and are willing to put in the time and effort needed to change a lifetime of negative behaviors and thoughts into positive outcomes.
My communication style
I am very laid back and the sessions are client-driven. I do not typically assign homework worksheets. Through collaboration, the client will decide what they want to address in therapy.
My journey to mental healthcare
I am driven to do this work because I believe we can all live a healthy happy life. Most negative behavior and thought patterns occur in childhood and by changing those we can lead a much more happier and fulfilled life.
My goals for you
The client usually knows what they want to address in therapy. By simply listening to my clients I can get to the heart of the issues and together we create a goal for our time together in therapy.
My first session with you
In the first session, I ask what brings the client to therapy. From there a discussion occurs that allows me to get the needed information to complete an assessment. Then I will ask what goal the client has for therapy and a treatment plan is created to meet that goal.
