My name is Natalie Nichols and I and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the District of Columbia . I received a Bachelors in Communications from the University of Maryland College Park and a Masters in Counseling from Bowie State University. I have worked for over 20 years with various human/social service programs; which include developmental disabilities, supported employment, housing/homeless services and outpatient mental health services. Having worked with various human services populations has afforded her the ability to work with diverse populations.
My approach
I am well versed in several counseling techniques and has a compassion for being a service to others. My counseling skills are unique in nature, often taking a Person-Centered counseling approach to meet the client “where they are” and quickly build the therapeutic relationship. My most common theretical approach is Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT).
My focus
I typically work with adults (18+) from various ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.
My communication style
I keep a causal communication style that is more of a conversation. I found this most effective in building rapport and connecting with clients.
My goals for you
I prefer a client centered /person centered style to goal setting with clients. The session and service is for clients and they should have autonomy over what goals they would like to set for themselves.
